Henbury Colts U13 (3) v Fry Club Colts U13 (1)
02/04/06
It was a very blustery day
for this game against the top of the table team, Henbury Colts.
From the kick off it could
be seen this would be a hard game as Henbury had put three big lads in midfield
to try and stop the Fry’s attack.
The game was rather non eventful
with both teams snuffing out each others attacks until the 26th minute
when a ball thumped out towards the corner flag by Justin Skinner in mid field,
which looked like it was going out, was chased down by Dan Buley, who crossed it
into the waiting Ryan Ellett who side footed in to make it 1-0.
Just before half time Fry’s
came close again when Dan Buley hit a shot from the edge of the box which was
palmed onto the bar by the Henbury keeper but there was nobody there for Fry’s
to meet the rebound.
Henbury equalise straight
from the kick off of the second half which seems to knock the stuffing out of
the Fry’s lads.
Henbury take the lead and
go 2-1 up when they scramble in a goal after a strong challenge on the Fry’s
keeper, Tom Ashley.
A third goal comes 2 minutes
later with a good shot from the Henbury striker on the edge of the area.
The wind was definitely affecting
the game and with Fry’s laying into it in this half it just proved too much for
them and they were unable to capitalise on the few chances they had.
The game ended 3-1 and it
has to be said the better team on the day came away victors. Never mind lads,
you gave it your all, and that’s all that can be asked of you.
